ABOUT:
Our program model of using technology to improve education and literacy has already been proven effective at enhancing the future prospects of children in need in countless communities across the country. Below is additional information on our current and planned programs.

Current Program: Click to Succeed

Every teenager has a need for a laptop when they go off to college; the new routine of college demands better technology to ensure the best grades. Online classes, resources, software for classes, study software with text books, and of course, the simple task of writing a term paper, can become challenging without a private computer. And not every college-bound student can afford a computer, despite scholarships and student loans.

The "Click to Succeed" award program provides college-bound high school seniors in Bridgeport, Connecticut with laptops to aid them on the road to success.

Through our nominate a student application, teachers and other school faculty will be the primary source when it comes to finding deserving seniors in need of a laptop for college.

Although a student can be nominated by school faculty, he or she can also nominate themselves. No matter which way the student enters the program he or she will need to complete an application form, and two teacher recommendations (the nomination counts as one). The student will then be required to answer two essay questions; it will give us a better understanding of who they are and what they hope to achieve. Not only are we looking for students who academically excel, we are looking for them to understand the role technology has on learning, and how it will have an impact on their future careers.

Selection Process involves ensuring whether or not the university or college the student will attend has a free laptop program; we will work hard to make sure our applicants get one if the school does not offer a free computer. Overall, the students who show the greatest need, and the most unique personalities will be selected.

In addition to the laptops, recipients will be given a copy of Microsoft Office 2007.

We will be awarding a minimum of five laptop computers to students beginning class in the Fall of 2009.
